election specials are starting (although how they will differ from the wall-to-wall coverage there has been all day remains to be seen).

Your faithful blogger is stationed in front of “Decision Time USA” on Sky TV. Let’s stick with them for now and then see how the BBC’s “The Vote that affects our World” is getting on with its skeleton staff of just 175 staff covering the election.

All eyes are on an early result in

Virginia

.  If that goes Democrat for the first time since 1964 then it is game over for McCain and the massive Obama victory party – with up to one million people - in

Chicago

will explode.

Pennsylvania

will also be crucial. If McCain can clinch that then we could be in for a seismic shock.

And of course there is always

Florida
