Debate LIVE: It's getting dirty

My star colleague Sophy Ridge just made an astute observation - Gordon Brown is starting to look like the new kid at school who is looking for a friend but keeps getting shunned.

Expenses is clearly the defining issue for most people at the moment when they think about politics.

Each leader looked desperate to chuck mud at each other instead of explaining why they have not sorted out the expenses system yet.

It is easy for Nick Clegg to stand up and say none of his MPs are corrupt. It didn't stop his MPs like Julia Goldsworthy rushing through as many claims as possible before the gravy train was halted.
