Southland Tales

Southland Tales is Donnie Darko writer-director Richard Kelly's second film but largely covers the same territory as the first.

It's split into three episodes which chart the events between a supposed 2005 nuclear terror attack in Texas and the end of the world.

America becomes a police state and declares war on virtually every country ending in ‘stan'. Because there's no oil, a power station is set up off California which tears holes in the fabric of space-time.

This troubles a number of LA residents. They include Sarah Michelle Gellar, as a porn star, and The Rock as musclebound Boxer Santaros (right).

All in all, it's so bizarre it makes even Donnie Darko look uncomplicated.
