JAN POORTVLIET was probably about as recogniseable in Southampton as Rupert Lowe is in the Bronx.
But the 52-year-old former Holland defender has been set the task of steadying Southampton.
But with little or no knowledge of the division and perhaps the smallest transfer budget in the league, Poortvliet will have performed a miracle in keeping Saints up.
The signing of midfielder player Paul Wotton could prove significant if he can produce his Plymouth form.
