Britons are leaving the country

We reported that record numbers of Brits are fleeing the country to escape spiralling levels of immigration, tax and crime. We want to know what you think.

I am an native Atlantan who would love to give London a try. Anyone want to trade places?

The politians should be made to read this page of comments and give a response.
As many have said, this government have gone to pot, immigration is out of control, prices are undercut but foreign tradesperson, leaving brits out of work, road pricing, ( should it come in) will put prices up for all transport related products, the goverment cant seem to grasp the fact that if the road pricing comes in, the transport companies cant `just loose` the cost, so this will have to be past on to use, the consumer, putting the cost of living up, mortgages up, wages stagnent ( unless your an M.P or Civil Servant ) i can just see this country imploading with bankrupties, job losses, suicides, depression, people will just sign on as going to work is going to be too expensive. I have a carpentry company and i do around 30,000 miles a year, if my customers wont pay the price increase then i will be signing on too. If i could afford to leave this country i would, an ex girlfriend had the right idea, left 20 years ago and has nt regretted a thing, come on, goverment, read these comments and take note.

I'm in America and feel the demise of lax borders. I truly inderstand the dilema of Britain as it is the same here. The cultural differeces are tolereted to the extreme. I say when in Rome...period!

My daughter and now husband (they got married on the beach at Christmas) moved to New Zealand, because they couldn't aford to live in England, they have been there now for just over a year, and is loving every minute of it, Zoe misses the family and wishes that we would all move there with them. When we went to visit them at Christmas we could see why they had fallen in love with this diverse Country, and give us a few years and i think we would move there as well.

I left the UK a year ago for Spain, I have been back to the UK a couple of timees but by comparison to Spain the UK:

- Has a worse Health System than Spain and there are no waiting lists;the perscriptions in the UK as twice as much as they are in Spain for my Astma drugs

- The education is Spain is better and to a higher standard. The children are better educated and mannered

- Spain has a work life balance whereas in the UK it is just work, work, work.

- The taxes are lower and the cost of living is cheaper so you have more money left out of your paypack

- Crime is lower in Spain you aren't afraid to go out at night like you are in the UK

I have no desire to return to the UK to live

Last year 400,000 UK citizens left the UK to live abroad, the Government statistics support this and although they record the numbers leaving they do not record the reason why? this year the numbers are predicted to go even higher and the people leaving are ones that are fortunate enough to support them selves or find professional jobs . It must be better to be foreigner in a foreign Country than a foreigner in your Country of Birth, especially if they have low crime rate, sensible taxes, rule of law still applies, no abuse to welfare systems and a Government that knows how to Govern to serve the people, my advice is please leave the UK as soon as you are in a position to do so ,if you had shares in a Company going downhill wouldnt you dump them as soon as possible?

At the moment my husband is training to be a plumber and i am doing a few courses.Once my husband has had the relevant experience we are going to apply to Canada, and if they dont accept us we will try US then Australia and New Zealand.
We are extremely unhappy in this Country, The way of life is so poor and the thought of bringing children into the world while living here is terrifying.
My sister lives in Canada and the laws are strict and quality of life is far better.
What has happened to this Once Great Country???

My advice is if you can get out of this country do so. If you have to stay be it money, commitments or family reasons form yourselves into vigilante groups and hold on because the future is bleak.

The Armed forces and institustions need to trust people of different skin colours ..yet i am constantly amazed by the lack of elequoence of a lot of the population. People feel alienated thats not due to immigration. Readers that have mailed that lived on housing estates - that have moved...good luck i think you have done well. Remember british is NOT a level playing field. The Goverment is trying we can all move to anywhere now. The cost of living is high as quite rightly this is the best country on earth. Unfortunately Life aint fair for alot of people and when in the past most people would read a book and get on their bike and do something. These days it's easier to have kushi likfe on some beach somewhere. We need loads more cleaners builders colleges teachers doctors plumbers. Everything is expensive as the people at the top make it so. India is making cheap stuff £10 phones and 1000£ cars the world will be a lot fairer and peaceful sooner than we think. Good thing is now people arne not dying of measles and rubella , not really killing eachother here, extremists are being identified , nutters will be caught.
The truth is we are doing rather well! With the help of usa and india and oz and all the other countires we get on with - those politiains do work to get the place better. I personally want free movement everywhere..and sercurity everywhere ..then i can live in africa for a bit move to south america for a bit then oz ...but the goverments dont want us to all get on yet ...thats the obvious truth..it will change. god bless uk , usa - we want freedom round the world. what a rant that was

stay and fight the problems, why should we thats what the government should be doing?and how long do you fight for, until we are grey and old and lack the inclination and eventually lay down and die,no its too late,Im staying out of the UK,or wait until the BNP have come to power

It would be better not to leave, but stay and fight for OUR Countries identy.

The HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF Men & Women lost their lives fighting in WW1 and WW2 defending us from dictators/extremists have obvioulsy died for nothing. Shame on us for not regaining power of our own country and its values and making a better and safer future for our children. EMIGRATING IS THE EASY WAY OUT

Im an 18 year old english boy. im leaving britain for good. i feel i will not be able to cope with this governments CONSTANT BULL****, TAXATION AND OVER-EXAGGERATION OF EVERYTHING. **** this country. its as good as dead, and labour have the blood on their hands.

I am not surprised. The govrnment supports the lazy and the idle and does not care about the working man. What do they do with criminals when they catch them? NOTHING. We need Capital punishment and idle scroungers back in work. They have the nerve to tax us to death and then let these scroungers sit about all day and rub it in our face. MAKES ME SICK.

One thing I notice is that many of the reasons people give for wanting to leave Britian, are the exact things may in Australian/ NZ complain about here. High immigration, High cost of living, Falling apart National health system, Traffic, violent crime, soft justice, a selling out government, on and on it goes. I have lived in Australia and the UK, the main difference I noticed was Australian media talk up the place while British media talk down about their country. It makes a huge difference to the mood of the people.

**Jokes**

Blaming immigration isnt an answer, aso i'd say if you do move abroad dont forget you are going to become an Immigrant.
I'm a brit born 3rd generation asian.
Stop being stupid is my reply to all

Lert the rainbow
all these racist idiots will vanish one day (maybe a 100 or 200 years ) then the world will be a rainbox

My family came from Britain to the New World from 1615 to 1650. If I could go back in time and ask them why they boarded ships to such a strange and inhospitable land I am betting I would get an answer very similar to the reasons everyone has outlined: lack of freedom and opportunities, high taxes, an unresponsive government and overcrowding. It seems like not much has changed in 400 years! Thankfully for America (Australia, NZ and Canada included), they and a lot of others did make a move, bringing with them the ideals of individual liberty, freedom and a desire to create opportunities where none before had existed.

Please don't come to Latin America, we're not interested in anyone foreign to our culture just like you are not interested in those foreign to yours.

Thanks.

The success of a nation depends on the stock of its people.
No nation on earth has ever achieved harmony and prosperity as a maulticultural nation.
America is the only nation on earth with a Constitution and Bill of Rights capable of creating freedom and equality for people of all racial distributions.
However, such a creation is considered a monumental achievement on earth.
And an achievement such as racial equality takes time, responsibility, and adherence to tradition and Constitutional principle.
Americans simply do not have the capability to absorb millions of immigrants at this time without turmoil.
much less the responsibility to remain homogenous.
Its apparent in England whose people have never had the dignity to rise above pride and look to America's Constitution for inspiration.Niether have American's.

Immigration is not the problem.
We ALL emigrate where ever we are it's the injustice that come with immigration, that's the problem.
This country is a fine country if justice is seen to be done.
We native Brits see untold injustice's in this country that make us want to leave to other countries to find a better place.
Those that emigrate here and get stuck-in are I'm afraid get tarred with the same brush as refugees who only come here to sponge off the state.
With a European Union who see us as a unloading dock for refugees and displaced people it's no wonder that native Brits want to leave these shores post hast.

Well why doesnt this surprise me and many others, yes many are fed up and thats why they are leaveing the uk, funny though the government arent botherd as all they ll do is let more foreigners in and the foreigners are more than happy to come over. So much for the government careing about the british people, all they care about is their fat pay packets and haveing their family on board, at the expence of the tax payers...

Isn't it very hypocritical that those people who are criticising immigration themselves decide to become immigrants in someone elses country?

It truly is a shame to see the Britains being ethnically cleansed of it's indigident population just the same as the Tibetans are being cleansed from Tibet. Both are due to massive immigration. And that while the Tibetans are allowed to say such things those poor Brits are persecuted if they dare to speak the truth.

Thanks to the UK for being our home for the past 7 years - up until now we were very thankful for this opportunity and for being allowed to stay. We, 2 highly skilled professional immigrants, have had enough and will leave as well. We've been paying tax all the way through whilst our British born neighbours are on benefits and don't work. They can't even keep their gardens neat and tidy and live like pigs. We can't complain as we might then have difficulty selling our house. We are sick and tired of being blamed for all that is wrong in the UK. So we are taking our skills somewhere else, maybe our lazy neighbours would one day be forced to get off their backsides and WORK. By the way, people on Work Permits and Highly Skilled Migrant Permits have NO recourse to public funds - in other words they do pay NI and Tax but are not allowed to claim benefits. For us there's still honour in work and we would never dream of "bleeding" any country dry by claiming benefits. Strangely enough we want to work - like thousands of other immigrants. It's not the immigrants causing all the problems, it's the policies dictated by the government!

I left the uk for a number of reasons.Evereytime you pick up the paper it was a horrific crime.Immigration was out of control and landing in Heathrow reminded me of Mumbai. The cost of living was ridiculous and the country was been run unfairly by a bunch of Scotsmen who were partisan to thier own country regarding health care, tax and education. You would not have this other than in a dictatorship where another foreign national presided over your country.I used to pay a substantial amount of tax but never again.Much as I love been British and enjoy the company of fellow Brits the Blairs Brown and all the other left wing human rights activists have ruined the uk.Scandal in the government. The final straw for me was when Peter Mandelson lied on his mortgage application.A month previously I was with the same company and due to a banking error missed a payment on my car and was refused a remortgage.Him and his homosexual lover are shuffled into a European post!!!!!!
I now live in Thailand which isn't perfect but you pay for what you get which you don't in the uk.You pay for everyone else.
Mr. Shinawatra ( Thai Abramovich ) robbed this country blind then took off to the uk and bought a football club.
Makes u proud to be a Brit ( not )
Rant over

When our own government favours foriegners rather than their own people that's the start of all this.If we needed to increase the population then why not use our welfare system on our own people? When our own PM Blair blames white britain for the lack of muslim integration when it clearly states in the quo'ran 'not to dilute into other cultures'.blair and brown should both be tried for treason. How can every small business being in muslim control possibly benefit us as a nation? How can building mosques and muslim only schools integrate them into our community.
