Obama storms to victory

It's a landslide.
Obama has widened his lead to 349 electoral colleges, compared to 162 for McCain.
In contrast, George Bush won just 286 in 2004 and 271 in 2000.
The new President-elect is expected to win 52% of the popular vote compared to 47% for McCain, smashing through the 50% barrier.
That's the best result for any candidate in more than 20 years.
Incredible shots of celebrations in Chicago show hundreds of thousands of people lining the streets.
Interestingly, Obama did far worse in the south of the US than many of his predecessors, including Kerry, Gore and Clinton, which could indicate that racism did play a factor here.
