Strictly Come Dancing - the final

Five dances each – a real marathon for both the final couples. The judges scored only the first three dances then it was down to the public. How did you think they did?

Matt Di’Angelo and Flavia

First dance: American smooth
Beautiful, floating elegance – no, I’m not talking about Flavia’s culottes – I mean the dancing!
Judges: 36
Me: 9

Second dance: salsa
Wow! Was that really the same guy who fell apart on the floor the other week? That was amazing!
Judges: 39
Me: 10

Third dance: quickstep
Full of bounce – it was like watching Bambi! Brilliant.
Judges: 35
Me: 10

Fourth dance: Viennese waltz
Just beautiful to watch both couples gliding round the floor at the same time. Hard to put a pin between the two couples but Alesha made it look slightly more effortless
Me: 9

Fifth dance: freestyle
A strong sexy finish! What great final he’s made this.
Me: 10

First dance: waltz
Another breathless, fairytale performance. She was like a feather in his arms in that stunning white dress.
Judges: 39

Second dance: cha-cha-cha
Absolutely superb! Full of energy and excitement – I could watch it again! And I did thanks to Sky+!
Judges: 38
Me: 10

Third dance: jive
Fabulous – I was exhausted just watching!
Judges: 35
Me: 10

Fourth dance: Viennese waltz
It doesn’t really get much better than this, does it? Enchanting.
Me: 10

Fifth dance: freestyle
Absolutely sensational – simply a stunning end to the show.

Well, Matt put up a good fight but after the public vote it was Alesha who deservedly scooped that fragile homemade-looking glitterball trophy. Let’s hope it survives the car journey home…

That’s it for another series. Thanks for reading the blog – till next year…

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

PS Tess’ Frock Watch
What’s Christmas without a box of Quality Street? Maybe that was why Tess had come as a giant Toffee Finger? Truly hideous!

Alesha wins!

Alesh

SINGER Alesha Dixon wept with joy as she waltzed away with the Strictly Come Dancing crown in a nailbiting finish to the show’s closest ever final.

Winning night in pictures

The former Mis-Teeq babe, 29, wowed judges with her fleet feet and pipped EastEnder Matt Di Angelo, 20, to the prize – then was named best EVER dancer by head judge Len Goodman.

Strictly Come Dancing - week eleven

Strick

A controversial result last week with Letitia going – especially as Matt had messed up both his dances.

Did he do enough to save himself this week? With the final only a week away there’s everything to dance for!

Strictly Come Dancing - week ten

That tacky home-made looking glitterball trophy is within touching distance – but who had their eyes on the prize tonight?

Gethin Jones and Camilla
First dance: American smooth
All very pleasant and correct but didn’t set me on fire. I’ve worked out what it is that bugs me about Gethin – that grin. Grrr!
Judges: 38
Me: 7
Second dance: jive
Fast, furious and full of energy. Great routine and way better than the first dance.
Judges: 37
Me: 10

Alesha Dixon and Matthew
First dance: Viennese waltz
Whirling and wonderful – like a fairy tale couple at the end of the story. Nasty dress though…
Judges: 38
Me: 10
Second dance: paso doble
Three words – fabulous, fabulous, fabulous. Didn’t even notice the slip up.
Judges: 36
Me: 9

Letitia Dean and Darren
First dance: waltz
Well, that was fantastic and faultless – and great to see her looking confident at last. Her best dance yet – but that dress? Could it have BEEN more unflattering?!
Judges: 35
Me: 9
Second dance: jive
Great routine and great attack – you could tell she loved it. And so did I. A shame the judges didn’t.
Judges: 30
Me: 8

MY TOTAL: 17

Matt Di’Angelo and Flavia
First dance: foxtrot
Well I know Matt messed up during that – and what a shame – but I still loved watching him and Flavia dance because they make such a cute couple. So they didn’t get it right, who cares? The good bits were great and I’d rather watch him than grinning Gethin any day.
Judges: 26
Me: 8
Second dance: samba
Great start and I thought he’d put his first dance behind him – but so sad he lost it again.
Judges: 29
Me: 8

How heartbreaking to see Matt muck up. I really hope the public get on the phone and show their support. He’ll really need it. We’ll see tomorrow how he does.

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

A great black number – pity about the weird unflattering gathering round the middle…

Strictly Come Dancing – week nine: results

Well not really a shock to see Kenny go, was it. He'd made some good progress in the past few weeks but it wasn't enough. I'm glad Letitia went through. She'll have her work cut out keeping up with the other three remaining contestants in next week's quarter-finals though.

The excitement is really hotting up!

Till next week – keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

PS Tess' Frock Watch
Was it my eyes or was she really wearing a dress made of sofa off-cuts?

Strictly Come Dancing - week nine

What sad news for Kelly to lose her father this week. The messages of support from Bruce, Tess and Brendan were really touching. It’s sad to see her go from the show too – she’ll be missed…

For the remaining contestants the two dances tonight tested everyone. Let’s see.

Matt Di’Angelo and Flavia
First dance: tango
Wasn’t sure what to make of that. Odd choice of music which spoilt the mood for me – it didn’t convey the drama of the dance. Erm…
Judges: 32
Me: 7
Second dance: rumba
That was much better. Sexy stuff but I was looking for a bit more flow and smoother transitions.
Judges: 33
Me: 9
JUDGES TOTAL: 65
MY TOTAL: 16

Gethin Jones and Camilla
First dance: waltz
Again the technical side good – but like last week it lacked the personality. It’s his funny grin! Didn’t get what the judges were so enthusiastic about.
Judges: 39
Me: 7
Second dance: salsa
WOW! Finally! That was incredible – energy, passion and technically spot on too. Creepy shirt though!
Judges: 35
Me: 10
JUDGES TOTAL: 74
MY TOTAL: 17

Letitia Dean and Darren
First dance: quickstep
Again the music spoiled it. Good but not spectacular. Still she’d not been well…
Judges: 30
Me: 7
Second dance: cha-cha-cha
Lots of energy – at times a bit too much which meant she lost the control.
Judges: 26
Me: 7
JUDGES TOTAL: 56
MY TOTAL: 14

Kenny Logan and Ola
First dance: foxtrot
Good effort – looked a little unsure of himself at certain points though.
Judges: 30
Me: 7
Second dance: rumba
Almost believed that dance in terms of his acting. But it was spoiled by his awkwardness. I didn’t feel he was involved in the choreography. And was it me or did Ola’s earring fly off?!
Judges: 23
Me: 6
JUDGES TOTAL: 53
MY TOTAL: 13

Alesha Dixon and Matthew
First dance: tango
It was fabulous but I thought it needed more polish.
Judges: 38
Me: 9
Second dance: samba
Fabulous again – but agreed with Arlene that again there were some bits that needed more work.
Judges: 36
Me: 8

I think Letitia might be in trouble tomorrow. What do you think?

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

Lovely – but loses marks for the funny shoulder strap thingy!

Strictly Come Dancing - week eight: results

That was a close one for Kelly and Brendan wasn’t it? Okay, so they had an off week this week but she is definitely the better dancer. John seemed to be ready to go and I think the judges made the right choice in the end.

It’s two dances for each couple next week – so that will really sort the men from the boys.

Till next then – keeeeeeeep dancing!

A fabulous 50s-style turquoise number. The best one yet!

Strictly Come Dancing - week eight

Well, what a difference two Saturdays away makes! Sad to see Penny gone but at least the Kate saga is over! Thanks to skymag writer Sam for blogging while I was in the States. Now, on to this week’s dances…

Gethin Jones and Camilla (quickstep)
It seemed to be okay technically but I agree with Len that it didn’t have much personality. Found myself drifting off half way.
Judges: 34
Me: 6

John Barnes and Nicole (samba)
Some timing issues made this performance jar a little for me. John doesn’t seem to connect to the dance – he always seems to be looking down on the floor for the instructions! Not nearly enough attack either…
Judges: 27
Me: 5

Letitia Dean and Darren (Viennese waltz)
How lovely and light – an enchanting, entertaining performance. The only let down for me was her forced smile – I wish she could try to enjoy it more.
Judges: 32
Me: 8

Kelly Brook and Brendan (samba)
I always love to watch this couple but didn’t think the choreography was good enough tonight. And I thought there was gonna be a fight with the judges afterwards!
Judges: 29
Me: 6

Kenny Logan and Ola (American smooth)
Just remind me – how is he still here again? Actually to be fair he’s made a lot of progress – but awful arms and hands still.
Judges: 30
Me: 7

Matt Di’Angelo and Flavia (salsa)
Wow! That was AMAZING! Spicy, sexy and sensational. Go straight to the final – do not pass go!
Judges: 38
Me: 10

Alesha Dixon and Matthew (cha-cha-cha)
Cha-cha-ching! Jackpot! The last two dances of the night made me forget all the others – absolutely fabulous. I could watch her dance forever!
Judges: 39
Me: 10

It’s hard to pick between Matt and Alesha for best dance of the night but they really showed the others how to do it. Bit worried for Kelly this week. We’ll find out who goes tomorrow – till then…

Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeep dancing!

Nick x

PS Tess’ Frock Watch
Basically a nice dress – but it looked like she’d got confused and put her sparkly bra on over her dress! Remember, bra first, dress second, dear!

Strictly Come Dancing – week 7: results

Finally, Kate has gone! Well, we’ve been waiting long enough, haven’t we?

And, even though she soldiered on with her back injury, she was probably quite glad to not be dancing again.

It was a bit of shocker to see John in the bottom two. He wasn’t fabulous but he was better than Kenny.

John just needs to take some tips from Letitia about his posture - as she seems to have got it sussed. I’m sure he’ll be back to his best next week with the Samba.

And what about the Latin Dance Champions – how exactly did she end up wearing a white dress at the end? They were amazing dancers, but I was more mesmerized with the wardrobe changes.

Well, that’s it from me as Nick is back next week. So until then…keeeeeeep dancing!

Sam x

PS Tess’ Frock Watch
It had the potential to be lovely, but it looked like someone forgot to sew the patterned piece down, so it wasn’t great.

Strictly Come Dancing - Week 7

Fresh from Children In Need last night, the professional dancers were lined up ready to take to the floor with their celebrity partners. It was a night packed full of reverse turns, heel leads and chasses, but who were the dancing stars tonight?

Kelly Brook and Brendan (Jive)
There were plenty of kicks and flicks in Kelly and Brendan’s jive, but I was a bit disappointed. And I thought the judges we’re a being too kind, especially by comparing her jive to Jill Halfpenny.
Judges 36
Me 7

Letitia Dean and Darren (Foxtrot)
No tears this week for Letitia – she was much improved. She was really elegant and classy – a far cry from her EastEnders character! It was a joy to watch.
Judges 34
Me 8

Kenny Logan and Ola (Cha-Cha-Cha)
I was worried for Kenny, as we know Latin dances are not his strongest dances, and I was right to be! He tried his best but it was slow and heavy and it was Ola who did most of the dancing. Kenny’s going to need lots of votes to stay in.
Judges 22
Me 4

Gethin Jones and Camilla (Rumba)
After he’s fantastic performance last week, Gethin had a lot to live up to and, even though this week wasn’t quite a good, he did a good job. But is a good job enough to keep him in?
Judges 31
Me 7

John Barnes and Nicole (Tango)
Well, the dance was good and he made all the right steps but it seemed to be lacking a bit of drama. He could of done with adding a sprinkle of ‘Barnsey’ to the dance.
Judges 28
Me 7

Kate Garraway and Anton (Paso Doble)
The only way was up for Kate after being bottom on the leader board last week, but she seemed to get even worse! Her injury may have had an impact on the choreography, but it was slow and, a bit like John, she needed to add in some drama!
Judges 21
Me 4

Alisha Dixon and Matthew (Waltz)
They owned the dance floor with by far the best dance of the night. It was like watching Cinderella and Prince Charming - wonderful, elegant and full of love. One word – brilliant!
Judges 38
Me 10

Matt Di Angelo and Flavia (Quickstep)
Matt was certainly back fighting this week. His quickstep was dazzling and the choreography was really impressive. I felt transported back to the 1920s. Loved it!
Judges 34
Me 9

The competition is really hotting up now so it should be Kenny and Kate in the dance off – it’s about time really, isn’t it? But who knows with the shocking exits we’ve had in the past weeks anyone could go. We’ll just have to wait until tomorrow night.

Until then...keeeeeep dancing!

Sam x

PS Tess’ Frock Watch
Well, didn’t she do well! Tess really stepped it up this week with her dress – lovely, floaty and pink. Loved it!

Strictly Come Dancing - Week 6: Results

Well, I’m shocked. Matt in the bottom two! What is going on? Ok, so the Viennese Waltz wasn’t his best dance or most exciting, but he was good. And there were plenty who were worse - Kate Garraway and Letitia Dean to name but two! Thank goodness the judges saw sense and saved him. Let’s hope Matt’s got an upbeat, Latin dance to blow us away with next week. I’m sure he’ll be back fighting.

It’s a shame Penny had to go, but her dancing has been up and down like a rollercoaster throughout the weeks and the salsa really wasn’t her dance. She’d obviously really enjoyed the experience, what with the tears and all.

I don’t know about you, but I thought the professional dancers were amazing with their group jive! There were enough kicks and flicks for the rest of this series in that one dance! And the group Jitter Bug was really entertaining. Gethin stood out for me, but that might have just been the uniform! And the worst was Kenny…oh dear!

So what do you think, should Penny have gone? Feel free to post your comments.

Until next week… keeeeeep dancing!

PS Tess’ Frock Watch

Tonight’s dress was much better. Good colour and a lovely big bow. Well done!

Strictly Come Dancing: Week 6

Strcitly

Nick is away this week so substitute writer Sam has waltzed in - again courtesy of skymag - to talk us through last night's dancing performances.

We had Viennese Waltzes and Salsas aplenty but were they any good?

Strictly Come Dancing - week five: results

Well that was a little less controversial than last week’s result wasn’t it?! Shame to see Dominic go though. I think he always gives an entertaining performance – even if he isn’t technically the best.

I suppose John has got more potential. He’ll have to work hard to improve next week but if he gets a Latin dance he should be okay as they tend to suit him more. Has he got what it takes to win though?

I think we’ve now got a group of celebrity dancers who are consistently good enough to be in with a chance of winning – Alesha, Kelly, Letitia, Penny, Matt and Gethin. But as we’ve seen with the viewer votes it still could be anyone’s game!

What did you think of the result? Who are your favourites? Feel free to post your comments.

Till next week – keeeeeeeep dancing!
